The Hockey Foundation are excited to announce that Emma Donovan from North Harbour Hockey is inaugural recipient of the Chica Gilmer Education and Hockey Scholarship.
The $2,000 scholarship is a legacy gift left to the Hockey Foundation by Mrs Chica Gilmer and is awarded to aspiring young females who show a commitment to playing and umpiring at a high level.
“Emma is a high achieving athlete who gives her all in her sporting endeavours. Emma is a top age group player, who manages to fit umpiring hockey at club and secondary level into her busy schedule” says Kimberley Green, North Hockey Volunteer Development Officer.
“Emma is a pleasure to work with and a fantastic role model to all young female umpires and we are so pleased her efforts are being recognised. This scholarship will allow Emma to continue furthering her development and will enable her to continue to give back to hockey at the community level – well done Emma, we are very proud!”
Emma is a very deserving recipient of the scholarship, say’s her mother Ros, “she is extremely hardworking at school, achieving well this year and is very passionate about hockey. This scholarship will make a big difference to Emma, her education and her hockey. Thank you very much to the Hockey Foundation and Chica Gilmer for this wonderful opportunity for Emma”.
