About The Foundation

The Hockey Foundation has been set up to ensure that the future of hockey is both a strong and vibrant sport at the grassroots level. The Hockey Foundation was established in 1999 by Hockey New Zealand and is a charitable trust that raises funds to improve the health of Kiwis through the growth and development of hockey and coaches in New Zealand.


The Foundation’s fundraising strategy comprises of the following:

Endowment Fund
A capital fund which will generate an ongoing income stream.


Regional/Association Fund

Funds can be targeted to specific regional or association initiatives.In 2011 the Foundation received a huge boost when leading businessman and philanthropist Sir Owen G Glenn pledged $1.3 million. The Foundation sought matching donations from 20 ‘first eleven’ donors and raised nearly $800,000.
